I see this pipe is universal but will I need some kind of exhaust tape to use on the fitting?

This muffler is designed to slide onto 1-1/2" exhaust header pipes. It includes adapters for 1-3/4" and 1-5/8" as well. This muffler should only be used on exhaust pipes that have an outside dimension of one of those three sizes. This will be a good fit and will not require any exhaust tape for a good seal. You can measure your exhaust header by removing the muffler and measuring the outside diameter of the pipe.
