Any tips or instructions on install? Do you put the thrust washer on the second chamfer of the tool to set the depth or will that damage it?

First, begin the installation. Then, over the bearing, place the washer into its location – use a little grease to hold it in place. Then use the tool to locate the needle bearing by using the washer as a stop.

Will this layshaft tool work for installing Torrington 108 needle bearing.

If that Torrington 108 needle bearing is meant to be used on the Triumph, BSA or Norton layshaft, it should work. The bearings for these layshafts are approximately .670 inches. The snout of the tool is .670 inches. If your bearing has this OD, it would work.
