Details

Complete, ready to install bolt on carburetor kit for the Triumph TR6 and TR7 single carburetor heads. The factory air box must be removed, or modified on 1971 and later oil in frame models.

M.A.P. Cycle offers the most complete carburetor kits available.

When jetting our carburetor kits, M.A.P. Cycle uses only brand new, genuine Mikuni components. We have been setting these up for decades, and have provided the jetting that works for the majority of bikes from stock, to mildly modified engines. Due to the nature of engines, and the fuel requirements they have, we cannot guarantee perfect tuning for every single customer. Engine modifications, location, fuel type, and ambient temperature all influence the fuel requirements which must be met for proper engine function.

Note:

Factory Single Carb (TR6/TR7) head only - Will not fit late model parallel port Bonneville heads.
This kit requires the use of the air filter supplied with this kit. This kit will not work with the stock air cleaner assembly.

I have a 1973 TR7RV. I am interested in this Carb Kit, I know that my current carb is a 30mm Amal Concentric Mark 1. Do I get the 30mm Mikuni?

The 30mm kit will provide the best throttle response, and low end power, while the 32mm kit will sacrifice a bit of low end power, for more top end potential. If you ride in town more often than open roads, and/or you often ride with a passenger, you will likely be happier with the 30mm kit.

How does this Mikuni carb work on a 71 OIF model triumph TR6? Does this carb fasten to the air cleaner housing or must it use the round air cleaner shown in the picture? Is the housing unused?

Don,
This kit does not allow the use of the stock air cleaner assembly. It requires the use of the air filter which is supplied with the kit. Replacement air filters are available through MAP.

Hello I currently own this carb kit but it's time for a rebuild but I can't seem to figure out what kit I need could you possibly help me?

I'm thinking of swapping my Amal 930 carb for one of these on my 1972 TR6R. As the original carb is a 30mm, would I be safe going with the 30mm Mikuni kit? My bike is pretty much stock except for a 40-over bore.

If your engine is mostly stock, the 30mm carb would be an excellent choice for you. If your bike has a bike bore kit, a cam and a more open exhaust, then the 32 might be a better choice. The 34 is really reserved for race bikes with larger valves, head work, open exhaust and big bore kit.
In the carb world, bigger isn't necessarily better unless your engine is modified to utilize and push through that extra fuel and air. The original designers knew what they were doing with they specified a 30mm carb for this engine size. So there is no reason to go bigger with the stock engine. The Mikuni is a more advanced carburetor than the original Amal on your bike. It will provide quicker starts and better overall performance.

Thanks for your purchase. You should first mount the carb exactly as jetted. We sell these kits jetted for stock bikes ridden between sea level and 3500 ft msl. We have been selling these carbs for 30 years so we have the basic jetting down.
There are several variables that may affect jetting. One of these is your exhaust. Because you are using straight pipes with baffles, it is possible you will have less back pressure than a stock exhaust and this may allow for slightly increased exchange of exhaust gasses in the cylinder head. But depending on the exhaust, there may not be enough of a difference to make a jetting change. Altitude can be another factor. If you are riding at a high elevation, say 7500 feet, you may require slightly leaner jetting. Because of these factors, we include a range of spare jetting.
I have written an easy to understand guide on tuning and jetting MIkuni carbs. I have attached a link below. If you follow the testing routines in the guide, you can determine if your bike is running lean, rich or normal through the RPM range. Once you determine which way the engine is leaning, then you can adjust your jetting accordingly.

The MAP0319 32mm Mikuni kit for TR6 comes with the following: 3.0 slide, 6DH3 needle, 20 air jet, VM34-159-PO needle jet, 35 pilot jet and 240 main. We also include an assortment of pilot and main jets for tuning.

There are only two gaskets fitted to this manifold and they are the same gasket. The part number is 70-5660. Attached below is a link to that gasket on our website:
